Viagra can treat pulmonary hypertension

BOSTON, July 27 viagra is being used to treat not only erectile dysfunction, but also pulmonary hypertension, according to a U.S. researcher.

The drug may have potential for treating several other conditions such as mountain sickness and Raynaud’s phenomenon, reports the August issue of Harvard Men’s Men’s health Watch.

viagra is now marketed under the name Revatio for pulmonary hypertension — an uncommon but serious disorder of high pressure in the blood vessels leading to the lungs, the newsletter said.

Child rapist ‘prescribed Viagra’

A French paedophile accused of raping a five-year-old boy just over a month after he was released from jail was taking the impotence drug viagra that he says was prescribed by a prison doctor, his lawyer said on Sunday.

Francis Evrard, a 61-year-old repeat offender who spent 18 years in prison for raping children before being freed on July 2, snatched the boy from a street in the northern town of Roubaix on Wednesday.

A pilot scheme for pharmacist-based sales of viagra (sildenafil) without prescription was launched in Manchester, England, on February 14. The scheme is open to men aged between 30 and 65 years, who are registered with a UK doctor. If they satisfy the standard criteria during an initial consultation with a pharmacist they are sent home with four 50 mg doses of the magic blue pills. The feasibility of extending the scheme to the rest of the UK will be investigated later this year.

VIAGRA USE ‘NO LONGER TABOO

The number of prescriptions being written out in Gloucestershire for men with impotence is on the rise.GPs dished out more than 18,300 prescriptions last year, up from 16,500 in 2005/06.

With eight tablets of viagra costing as much as £46.99, the bill to the NHS is running into hundreds of thousands of pounds.

The figures were released this week by the Prescription Pricing Authority, which bills all 150 primary care trusts in England.

VIAGRA RAP FOR OILMEN

OIL workers are causing a storm by taking viagra with them to their rigs.

They’ve been caught with the drug in jelly and tablet form as they go back towork in the North Sea.

Bosses fear there could be a black market for the sex drug on the rigs.

But some workers claim they simply forgot it was in their bag.

Jake Molloy, of offshore workers union the OILC, has been called in to represent some of his members.

He said: “I’ve got no idea why they would want to bring it offshore with them in the first place.

NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Sep 28, 2007 - Pfizer Inc said today that the Canadian Federal Court in Toronto has ruled that Pfizer’s second medical use patent covering Viagra would be infringed by Apotex’ proposed generic product. The court granted the company’s application for an order preventing Apotex from launching a generic version of Viagra until expiration of Canadian Patent No. 2,163,446 in 2014.

The decision is subject to appeal.
