This article, in PLOS Medicine, “examines how Pfizer transformed viagra from an effective product for erectile dysfunction (ED) due to medical problems, such as diabetes and spinal cord damage, into a drug that ‘normal’ men can use to enhance their ability to achieve an erection and to maintain it (in a ‘harder’ state) for a longer period of time.”

Horny elks give Asia ‘Swedish Viagra’

Antlers from Swedish reindeer, elks (moose) and deer are being marketed in Asia as a ‘Swedish viagra’. The horns are processed at a hotel in Fredrika in Västerbotten county, northern Sweden.

The antlers are sawn into pieces in Sweden before being made into pills in east Asian countries, particularly Hong Kong and Taiwan. The pills are sold for large amounts of money as ‘Swedish viagra’, according to Helmut Haidic, the Sweden-based Austrian behind the business.

Impotence drugs such as viagra may do more than help men physically have sex — they may also boost levels of a hormone linked with feelings of love, U.S. researchers reported on Thursday. viagra, known generically as sildenafil, raised levels of the hormone oxytocin in rats, the team at the University of Wisconsin-Madison said in a report published in the Journal of Physiology. China busts seller of 18,000 fake Viagra pills

BEIJING - China’s Cabinet is drafting measures for stronger supervision over food safety, the government said Wednesday, as authorities announced busts on criminal networks that exported phony viagra, bird flu medicine and anti-malaria drugs.

The actions reflect Beijing’s recent push to regain global consumer confidence following a slew of bans or recalls on Chinese exports — from toothpaste to seafood — found tainted with high levels of toxins and chemicals.

Ice man guilty of $1m import

A BRITISH viagra salesman who tried to import ice with a street value of more than $900,000 has pleaded guilty to drug importation.

John Joseph Alty, 52, was caught at Melbourne airport on October 14, 2005, with 754g of methamphetamine hidden in two cognac bottles.

Alty, a British national, had been carrying the two bottles of cognac in a duty-free bag.

The County Court heard Alty was offered $2000 to take the bottles to Australia by a man he knew as “Mark” whom he met at Hong Kong airport.

Normally, blood pressure is lower in lungs than in the rest of the body. But as one ascends Mount Everest in an oxygen-deficient atmosphere, it can become dangerously high resulting in high altitude sickness.
